Qingdao Municipal Water Upgrade Project Successfully Completed: WIVO Smart Valves Empower Urban Infrastructure Development

WIVO Group

March 24, 2025, Qingdao — WIVO Group, a leading domestic manufacturer of high-end valves, announced today the full completion of the production and installation of core equipment for Qingdao's smart water system upgrade project. As a key municipal project for Qingdao in 2025, this initiative marks the first citywide implementation of intelligent valve coverage in the water supply network, signifying a new era of "smart management" for the city's infrastructure.

Technology Enhances Livelihoods, Building a Resilient City

The project spans six major districts, including the city's four main urban areas, Huangdao, and Laoshan. WIVO Group delivered over 3,200 high-end devices, including intelligent control valves and IoT water terminals. By integrating pressure sensors, 5G remote control, and AI leakage warning systems, the new network can monitor water flow in real time, achieving a 45% improvement in energy efficiency compared to traditional valves and reducing emergency response time for pipe bursts to under 10 minutes. Wang Haiyang, Director of Qingdao Water Authority, stated at the acceptance ceremony: "The implementation of this system will save over 8 million tons of water annually, benefiting the water safety of 9 million residents."

Overcoming Challenges, Demonstrating "Qingdao Speed"

Faced with complex underground pipeline environments and stringent environmental requirements, the WIVO project team innovatively adopted BIM 3D modeling for pre-assembly and utilized self-developed corrosion-resistant titanium alloy valve materials. Within an 18-month construction period, the project achieved "zero quality incidents and zero schedule delays." Chief Engineer Li Na revealed that the installation of the Jiaozhou Bay submarine pipeline section marked the first use of underwater robotics, overcoming the challenge of precise valve positioning in 6.5-meter-deep seawater.

Government-Enterprise Collaboration Sets Industry Benchmark

Chen Zhigang, General Manager of WIVO Group, stated at the completion ceremony: "As a local enterprise rooted in Qingdao, we are giving back to the city's trust with cutting-edge technology. We will continue to invest in smart water research and development, aiming to establish a national-level fluid control laboratory within three years." The project has been designated as a "New Urban Construction" demonstration case by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, with its technical standards expected to be promoted across 30 smart city pilot projects nationwide.

With the advancement of Qingdao's urban renewal initiatives, WIVO's technological breakthroughs not only provide domestic alternatives for municipal engineering but also open new avenues in the integration of IoT and high-end manufacturing, injecting strong momentum into the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.
